Latest Mortgage News

As the real estate market continues to evolve and adapt, staying informed about the latest news and updates is crucial for both potential homebuyers and industry professionals.

One of the most closely watched aspects of the mortgage industry is the movement of interest rates. The Federal Reserve's decisions on monetary policy have a profound impact on mortgage rates. Recent trends have shown a slight increase in interest rates, which has led to some homebuyers reevaluating their purchase decisions. Prospective buyers are encouraged to stay updated on these changes to make informed decisions on the timing of their home purchase.

The MBA doesn’t expect the Federal Reserve to hike interest rates further this year as real rates – which are inflation-adjusted– are 2%.

MBA’s baseline forecast is for mortgage rates to end 2024 at 6.1% and reach 5.5% at the end of 2025 as Treasury rates decline and as the spread narrows.

The MBA raised expectations of a mild recession in the first half of 2024 due to the combination of the cumulative impact of the rate hikes, the banking system tightening down on all forms of credit and the slow global environment all leading to a slowdown in the US.

EPM+ Fitness: Health & Fitness Tip

Stop smoking. We’re sure you’ve heard it before, but we have to remind you. Quitting smoking can not only help you increase your fitness level but also your day-to-day health as well. We know this is a challenge, so it’s important to find resources that can support you in this process. Check out these tips from the American Lung Association.

Eddy’s Corner:

A phrase I’ve heard before is that people should always “complain up.”

So, for instance, it’s okay to complain to your boss, but not to someone on your team. The idea is that leaders shouldn’t put their problems on the shoulders of their people.

I think this is a decent enough idea most of the time. I don’t want to put pressure or stress on my team that they can’t do anything about.

At the same time, I think it’s essential for leaders to be authentic, and sometimes a little complaining can go into that.

For instance, I’ve definitely complained a little about the current market to my team. I’m not whining or trying to make them “fix” anything. I just want them to know that I share their frustrations and understand that things are hard right now.

As leaders, we need to keep things positive whenever we can. At the same time, a little negativity can help increase our authenticity and build rapport with our teams. The balance is the main thing, but don’t ever feel like you need to stifle yourself to be a “good leader.” Be honest, above everything else.
